🍚 Onion Beef Fried Rice

A quick and flavorful fried rice made with savory ground beef, sweet onions, garlic, and vegetables. Using cold day-old rice helps create perfectly separated grains and that classic fried rice texture.

📝 Ingredients

3 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old and cold)
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup mixed vegetables (such as carrots, peas, or corn)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
Vegetable oil for frying

Optional garnish:
Green onions, sliced
Fresh cilantro

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Rice

For the best texture, use cold, day-old rice. Fresh rice tends to be moist and sticky, while chilled rice fries more evenly and stays fluffy.

2️⃣ Cook the Ground Beef

Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for about 5–6 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned and fully cooked.

3️⃣ Sauté the Aromatics

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onion becomes soft and fragrant.

4️⃣ Add the Vegetables

Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook for another 2–3 minutes until they become tender but still slightly crisp.

5️⃣ Add the Rice

Add the cold cooked rice to the skillet. Use a spatula to break apart any clumps and mix the rice with the beef and vegetables.

6️⃣ Season the Fried Rice

Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir everything together so the rice is evenly coated with the seasoning. Taste and add salt and black pepper if needed.

Continue stir-frying for 3–4 minutes until the rice is heated through and slightly toasted.

7️⃣ Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions or fresh cilantro if desired. Serve immediately while hot.
